Moms suggest traditional, energy-sustaining foods like sabudana, ragi and bajra dishes, makhana and veggie soups, plus lactation-friendly protein powders confirmed with their pediatricians for moms who feel short on protein.
⚠️ Caution:Confirm any protein powder or supplement is lactation-friendly with your own pediatrician before starting, as moms here did.
Breastfeeding moms are constantly ravenous and worry whether they're getting enough nutrition - especially protein - to sustain their supply and energy without eating something that affects the baby. The community shares comforting, familiar foods like sabudana, ragi and bajra alongside specific protein powders that their own pediatricians cleared as lactation-friendly, reassuring moms they can eat well and keep their supply up.
Here's what moms in our community shared based on their own experience.
Healthy breakfast/snack ideas: sabudana porridge, ragi porridge, makhana, carrot-beetroot-tomato soup, and bajra roti or bajra khichdi.
For protein, one mom uses Yoga Bar Pro Clean plant protein (confirmed lactation-friendly by her pediatrician) with unsweetened cocoa added.
A pediatrician recommended Viva Mom protein powder to another mom.
One mom used chocolate-flavoured whey protein, which tasted good and helped with her supply.
