Empowering mothers worldwide through connection, support, and shared experiences ✨
Moms managing solo share that babies are happiest just being able to see you while you work. A play gym, rotating musical toys, and soft music nearby buy you time; many also accept that some days the chores wait, and that a baby observing and finding their own play is completely fine.
Solo caregivers with no village feel torn between getting the housework done and not parking the baby in front of a screen. The reassurance from other moms is that you don't have to entertain a baby every minute - keeping them safely within sight while you work, with a few toys nearby, is genuinely enough, and some days the chores simply waiting is okay.
Here's what moms in our community shared based on their own experience.
For me a play gym and rotating musical toys are the winners. I put on some music and do the chores, and my baby stays happy as long as he can see me - he only cries when I move out of sight, so I just work in the same room.
We put so much pressure on ourselves to constantly keep the baby busy, but when there's nothing right there to play with, babies observe and find their own ways to engage. Every baby is different, but giving them a safe spot near you and letting them watch you works.
Honestly, some days I do the chores while she's awake and near me, and some days they just wait until she naps. Keeping a small set of toys within reach where I'm working helps me get the essentials done.
