Empowering mothers worldwide through connection, support, and shared experiences ✨
Moms rely on cold teethers, chilled fruit in a mesh nibbler, and gentle gum massage - with a pediatrician-approved dose of Calpol only as a last resort when the baby is inconsolable.
⚠️ Caution:Give paracetamol/Calpol only at a pediatrician-approved dose. High fever, diarrhea, or severe distress is not caused by teething alone - see a doctor. Avoid amber teething necklaces (strangulation/choking risk) and numbing gels unless prescribed, and always supervise a baby with cold teethers or a food nibbler.
It is heartbreaking to watch a baby in pain and irritated all day. Moms reassure that cold comfort, gum massage, and patience get most babies through, and that reaching for a doctor-approved pain dose on the worst nights is okay - not a failure.
Here's what moms in our community shared based on their own experience.
Try cold teethers cooled in the fridge, a mesh nibbler with or without a piece of fruit, and letting the baby suck. Doctors recommend massaging the gums with a clean finger. As a last resort I gave a half dose of Calpol when she kept crying despite soothing - but only after checking with the doctor.
I used a finger brush to gently brush and massage her teeth and gums. I would lay her on my lap and make it a game - no paste, she just chewed on the brush and felt happy for a while.
Cold fruit helps a lot - especially pomegranate in a fruit nibbler. Chilled (not frozen-hard) teethers give the most relief.
If the pain and fussiness seem beyond normal teething, check for an infection with your doctor rather than assuming it is only teeth.
