Empowering mothers worldwide through connection, support, and shared experiences ✨
Moms outline a simple newborn routine centered on feeding, sterilizing, diapering and sleep, with bathing/massage and gentle skin care; small tips help with cold wipes and a colicky baby.
⚠️ Caution:If feeding is causing significant nipple pain or damage, consult a lactation expert or your doctor about latch and positioning.
Overwhelmed new parents want a simple checklist and worry they're missing some essential newborn-care step. The community reassures that the non-negotiables are few - feeding, sterilizing, changing, sleep, gentle bathing and skin care - and shares small comforting tips like warming wipes in a flask so the baby isn't startled by cold, making the daily routine feel manageable.
Here's what moms in our community shared based on their own experience.
A basic daily rhythm is mostly sterilising, changing, feeding and sleeping. Massage should always be followed by a bath or sponge bath (don't leave oil on); bathe daily if the baby has gained weight well, or sponge and bathe on alternate days, then apply lotion. For an evening massage you can use lotion.
Skin care is mostly the right diapers, wipes and rash cream. Bathing doesn't have to be daily - once in 2-3 days, then moisturise. If you prefer massage, do it daily.
For cold wipes that chill the baby, avoid wipes and use cotton soaked in warm (or cool, per weather) water or old soft worn-out cotton cloths. Or keep warm water in a steel flask and dip the wipes before use.
For a strong/deforming latch when feeding very frequently, the discomfort eases - focus on positioning and ask for help if it persists.
