Empowering mothers worldwide through connection, support, and shared experiences ✨
Moms recommend finding nannies through references or trusted agencies (which replace poor fits), warn that quality is partly luck, and share that a good nanny handles baby laundry, feeding, massage, naps and tidying - giving you valuable windows of rest, though it adds some mental load.
Parents with no family support dread handing their newborn to a stranger and worry about reliability, quality and cost. The community's honest reassurance is that references work best, that good agencies replace poor fits, and that finding the right person is partly luck so trying a few is normal - and that a good nanny meaningfully lightens the load with baby laundry, feeding, massage and naps, buying back precious pockets of rest even if it adds some mental overhead.
Here's what moms in our community shared based on their own experience.
Find nannies through references (most reliable) or a trusted agency that will send a replacement if the first isn't a good fit. You may go through a few before finding the right one; ask the agency for a reference from a family the nanny worked with before.
Service apps and tie-ups vary: Broomees worked for some and not others; one mom with a corporate tie-up got good hygiene/communication but poor nanny quality after trying 3. In Bangalore, Supernan was pricey but professional with an app pricing by age group and timing (no nanny after 7pm, Sunday compulsory off).
Expect a full-time nanny to handle complete baby laundry (wash, dry, fold into cupboard), prepping and feeding baby food and cleaning baby after, baby maalish, getting baby ready, putting down for naps, putting away toys, and dusting/cleaning baby things.
Rough charges (Bangalore): around 2k/hour for a non-live-in nanny and 20k-25k for live-in; agency charges are usually higher and rates vary by area.
A nanny may not erase the exhaustion but gives pockets of relaxation (even 30 minutes combined) and help with cleaning, sterilising and smaller tasks - worth it despite the added mental load. Test the nanny for 1-2 days for fit before committing.
Agencies for trained nannies/maids include the Broomees App; experiences are mixed and partly depend on area and luck.
