Some mild, occasional pulling or sensitivity around an old C-section scar can happen, but persistent or worsening pain should be checked by an OB-GYN.
⚠️ Caution:Seek prompt medical evaluation if there is swelling, discharge, fever, a lump/bulge, or persistent worsening pain—old scar pain can have multiple causes that need ruling out.
Parents worry internal stitches are ‘coming undone’ or something dangerous is happening. Moms often share that scar area can feel sensitive later, but recurring pain deserves a proper check to rule out adhesions/hernia/inflammation.
Here's what moms in our community shared based on their own experience.
One mom asked if there was any discharge from the scar area—if there is discharge, redness, or swelling, it should be shown to an OB-GYN quickly.
If there is only internal pain for a short while, some moms take paracetamol and observe. If the pain increases or keeps coming back, they see their doctor.
In the US, OB-GYNs generally recommend getting any new or recurrent pain at an old surgical site evaluated, even if there’s no discharge, to rule out hernias, adhesions, or other issues.
