Empowering mothers worldwide through connection, support, and shared experiences ✨
Around 6–8 weeks, many babies go through a growth spurt: shorter naps, more frequent feeds, and fussier bedtimes are very common and usually temporary.
⚠️ Caution:If baby has fever, poor feeding, fewer wet diapers, or seems unwell, rule out illness rather than assuming regression.
Parents worry they broke baby’s sleep or created bad habits. Moms often say early months are naturally erratic—growth spurts commonly disrupt sleep temporarily.
Here's what moms in our community shared based on their own experience.
Several moms noticed the same thing at 6–8 weeks—short naps, frequent feeds, and difficulty settling at night—and were told it was a growth spurt.
Another mom shared that her baby still slept long stretches once asleep at night, but getting her down became much harder during this phase.
One mom mentioned that till around 3 months, baby sleep is very erratic because their circadian rhythm isn’t fully developed yet, so every day feels different.
US pediatric sleep advice often says that frequent waking and cat naps at this age are normal, and that focusing on a calming routine is more important than strict schedules until 3–4 months.
